What is it?

Membership is a commitment. We are excited about Christians who want to become engaged in what God is doing in our church and community. Engaged church members commit themselves to God through their spiritual development, their participation in worship, their giving, and their service both in and outside the church. Here’s how to move into membership:

How?

1. Enroll in a First Steps Group. You will learn how to best unite with the church and you will unite with a group of others at that same stage.

2. Indicate to Pastors Dave, Joan, Virginia, Melinda or Stephen that you are ready to become an engaged member of FUMC.

3. At that point, one of them will guide you in deciding about:

      A. a date and worship service to join;

      B. whether there would be a need to baptize you (we accept baptisms from other       Christian denominations. We baptize with a little water or a lot, the choice is yours to       make);

      C. whether a transfer of your previous membership would be in order (our office       handles the paperwork of such a transfer with other United Methodist Churches and       with other denominations who cooperate with such);

      D. who of your family would be coming into membership and what status (we want       everyone placed into our membership database so that we can stay connected);

      E. whether to receive you by profession of faith (this is a simple series of questions       that lets you share your faith in Christ publicly. If you have joined a Christian Church       before, you likely made your public profession);

      F. who you desire to have present (family, friends, etc.) during the membership       process;

      G. where you will best “plug into” the ministries of FUMC.

4. Once you have taken the necessary steps for membership, we’ll make sure to get your picture for our Newsletter (with your permission, of course) and place you into our membership database.

5. Then it’s time for you to move forward to your NEXT STEPS in your faith journey!
